Mr. James Long, Jr., age 91, of Birmingham, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abbie Harper Long and James Long, Sr., sisters, Irene, Henrietta, Mary and brother, Lee. He is survived by his wife, Daisy Beverly Long; brother, Johnny Long; daughters, Geraldine Adams, Alice Atkins and Sharon (Howard) Shepheard; sons, John (Shirley) Long and Earnest (Cheryl) Long.

He is survived by nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.

Mr. Long was a veteran of World War II where he served in the European Theater of Operation from 1943 to 1945. He worked for Clark Memorials for 30 plus years as a headstone engraver.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith & Gaston Southside Chapel, 102-6th Avenue S.W., Birmingham, Alabama 35211. Public viewing will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2015 beginning at 12 noon. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather. He will be missed by many.
