Isaiah Moore,
Jr
November 27, 1941 – June 30, 2022
Isaiah Moore, Jr. was born to the late Isaiah Moore, Sr., and Estelle Powers-Moore on
November 27, 1941, in Birmingham, Alabama. He was the seventh of ten children to that union.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was a faithful member of
Tabernacle Baptist Church and a member of the senior usher board.
Isaiah was educated in the Birmingham City Schools and received his diploma from Parker High
School as well as learned the trade of printing. Post high school, he briefly attended college at
Florida A&M University and Miles College. Although he did not graduate from Miles, he was an
active member of the Miles College Booster Club. After leaving college, Isaiah traveled to New
York, where he worked as a printer with the Graphic Communications International Union until
his retirement on December 1, 1996.
Isaiah was more than the life of the party; he WAS the party. He enjoyed going to his favorite
casino spots like Wetumpka, Biloxi, and Island View with his siblings and friends. He also
enjoyed giving and caring for the ones he loved. Whether it was handing out loaves of bread in
the neighborhood or going out to a sandwich shop with childhood friends or even making
sweet potato pies and pound cakes for the annual Moore Family Thanksgiving dinner, food was
his way of showing his love for his friends and family.
Isaiah was called home to be with the Lord on the morning of June 30, 2022. He was preceded
in death by his parents Isaiah Moore, Sr., and Estelle Powers-Moore; his only brother, William
Moore (Jeannette); and seven sisters Doris Roberts (McKinley-late), Margaret Stuckey, Lilian
Moon, Geraldine Moore-Myricks, Annie Jean Stewart (Willie-late), Elizabeth Dowdell, and Gloria
Thornton (Nathaniel).
He leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Gregory Moore, and Jeffery Moore (Cassandra);
one daughter, Cassandra Brown (DeForrest Brown, Sr.); one sister, Verlene Valentine(Reuben-
late); six grandchildren, Tashiem Moore, Nyeima Moore, Destiny Moore, T'keyah Womack,
DeForrest Brown, Jr. (Ting Ding), and Kiara Brown (John Elike, fiancé); one greatgrandchild,
Zamora Parham; best friend, Graham Maxey, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and
friends.
