Irma Jean
Simpson
September 15, 1937 – November 29, 2022
Mrs. Irma Jean Simpson was born September 15, 1937, to the late Mr. William and Mrs. Annie Mae Horne in Birmingham, Alabama.
She attended Tarrant Junior High School, Hooper City High School, and Booker T. Washington Business College. She worked for numerous years in Flint, Michigan, at General Motors until she retired.
She was a member of New Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church and truly loved the Lord. Beyond Sunday morning, Irma enjoyed dressing up and was always fashion-forward. Whether it was Sunday dinner or a gala, Irma dressed the part for every occasion. Irma was one of "The Golden Girls," a group of friends who celebrated birthdays and other social events. Family was very special to Irma. It was a joy during the Christmas holidays for her to host a brunch for her sisters with all the trimmings.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her son, Mr. Tony Simpson (Angela) of Chicago, Illinois; five grandchildren, Antoine, Shawn, Antonio, Brandon, and Kevin Simpson; seven sisters, Mrs. Mary Louise Jones, Mrs. Lucille Hawkins (Herbert) of Grand Blanc, Michigan, Mrs. Doris Jolly, Mrs. Dianne Beatty, Ms. Evelyn Horne, Mrs. Artyce Wynn, and Ms. Gloria Horne; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Julia Horne, Birmingham, Alabama.
In addition to her parents, Irma was preceded in death by her sister, Mrs. Eurydice Wooten, and brother, Mr. Bobby E. Horne.
