Ingrid Dean
Lucas
September 18, 1968 – April 4, 2025
"Life is eternal and love is immortal, and death is only a horizon."
Ingrid Dean Lucas passed away peacefully at home on April 4, 2025. She was born in Lubbock, Texas, on September 18, 1968, to Creola Gaston Lucas and Ira Thomas Lucas, Jr. She later moved with her family to Houston, Texas, where she was raised, attended elementary school, and studied at Madison High School. She received her high school diploma from Piney Woods Country Life School in Piney Woods, Mississippi.
Ingrid was active and accomplished in many areas throughout her youth. She participated in ice skating, cheerleading competitions, and championship dancing. She proudly received a science trophy at the Piney Woods Fair. Athletic and enthusiastic, Ingrid was also a member of the Iota Phi Lambda Future Iota Girls (FIGs), one of her mother's sororities. She modeled for the Houston Social Club and sang in her church choir, bringing joy and grace to every performance.
She continued her education at Lawson State College, where she earned an associate's degree in science and social work. Ingrid lived her life with authenticity and love, encouraging others to embrace who they were, just as she always did. She was known for her kind heart, often reminding those close to her, "I love you." One of her most cherished sayings at the end of a conversation was, "Lock up, and check your doors."
Ingrid's faith was the foundation of her life—she always put God first. Raised among high achievers and professionals, she will be remembered for her resilience, strength of character, and her ability to overcome life's challenges with grace.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ira Thomas Lucas, Jr., RPH.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving mother, Creola Gaston Lucas; her beloved daughter, Selena I. Lucas; her brother, Ira T. Lucas III; aunts, Rachel Gaston and Patricia Gaston McCullum (Donald); cousins, Dr. Rochelle Malone, Rashaun Gaston Aigbivbalu, J.D. (Peter Aigbivbalu), Dr. Elizabeth McCullum, Jessica Melton Stephens, Jordan Ellis Melton (deceased), Micah Aigbivbalu, Rachel Aigbivbalu, Isaiah Stephens; and a special friend, Stanley Godfrey.
We will never forget you, our dear, sweet Ingrid.
To God be the glory.
