Inez Scruggs
Tyson
December 29, 1942 – September 4, 2024
OBITUARY
Inez Scruggs Tyson was born on December 29, 1942 to the late Annie Lee Moore Scruggs and Albert Scruggs, Sr. in Selma, (Dallas County) Alabama. She was affectionately called "Lil Doll."
As "Lil Doll grew" her stature remained small and petite, but her name was quickly changed to "Duck" and that meant a lot because she was strong and courageous in thought and deed. She was a product of the Jefferson County School System where she was active in academic and athletic programs. She graduated in the Class of 1960 from R. R. Moton High School, Leeds, Alabama.
At an early age, after a family move to Birmingham, Alabama she confessed Christ and joined the Forty-Sixth Street Baptist Church in East Birmingham. During her childhood there was a second move to Scotts Bend, Irondale, AL where she joined the historic Mt. Hebron Baptist Church and continued her Christian journey. Her move was complete with a new church to call home at the Agape Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Frederick D. Whitt. The church was filled with many ministry opportunities. She embraced the Saints Alive Ministry and served wherever the need was with much joy and laughter and all the wonders of a vibrant Senior Ministry.
In the comfort of her home, surrounded by family, Inez fell asleep in the Lord on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
After retiring from the Win South Credit Union in Fairfield, AL, Inez moved back Irondale, and was one of the first residents to move into the new property at Abbingdon Summit Pointe. She often of the fun times and enjoyed all the perks of Senior living with her neighbors.
Inez was an active member of the Irondale Senior Activity Center, participating and supporting all Center events. She had a special love and interest in the Tuesday Morning Card Playing Group where she welcomed the challenge of a good game of Bid Wiz and dedicated herself to the weekly Exercise Classes.
Inez has left us a legacy of perseverance, strength and courage that binds together with her faith in God that serves as a testament to a life well lived.
Inez was preceded in death by her father, Albert Scruggs, Sr., her mother, Annie Lee Scruggs, sister, Mary Ellen; brother, Lucky.
She leaves to cherish her memories: One loving and devoted son, Cedric Clark Tyson, Two grand children: Kia Tyson and Bolin Tyson; Four great grand children: Chloe Tyson, Clark Tyson, Maliha Tyson and Denvyr Tyson (all of Birmingham, AL); two sisters: Jessie Williams (Rosharon, TX), Dorothy McAdory (Rev.
