Obituary

Gwendolyn (Jones) Sutton, born on August 10, 1944, Slossfield, Alabama passed away on November 23, 2025 at her home in Fort Washington, MD after a very difficult illness.

Gwen, as she preferred to be called, completed eleven years of education before leaving Parker High School of Birmingham, her senior year, to marry USAF A1C Willie M. Sutton, a childhood sweetheart. They raised 3 very successful children and suffered the loss of a baby daughter.

Accompanying her military husband, she and her family traveled the United States and many parts of the world.  Having worked several jobs, she retired as a Federal Accounts Agent with United States Air Force, Pentagon, DC.

She was heavily into aerobic training.  As a child of faith, deeply involved in church activities.  Her smile was contagious, the brightest in whatever room she entered.  Her aspiration to dance persists with her children.

She leaves to cherish her memories a husband of 63 years, Willie; 2 sons Willard and Kynny; 1 daughter Nikki; (S. Lynyse, deceased daughter); 2 granddaughters; 7 grandsons; 3 great-granddaughters, 10 great-grandsons; 1 great-great-granddaughter; 2 sisters Janice and Yuvonne; ( Regina, deceased sister); 3 brothers Fletcher, Conward, Roderick.  And a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family relatives and friends.
