Reflections Of Life
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever." Psalms 23:6

Gladys McReynolds was born on April 8, 1927, to the late Lawrence and Bettie Rivers in Thomaston, Alabama (Marengo County). Gladys departed this earthly life on Thursday, June 10, 2021, peacefully asleep in the arms of Jesus at her home. Gladys confessed Christ at a very young age, uniting with St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Thomaston, Alabama. At the time of her departure, she was a devoted member of New Salem Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. She was united in holy matrimony to the late James McReynolds. They were blessed to raise, together, three daughters and two sons.

She leaves to cherish many beautiful and precious memories; two sons, Jim Marshall Jr., of Little Rock, Arkansas; Johnny McReynolds (Shirley), of Woodbridge, Virginia. Three daughters, Patricia Sullivan, of Birmingham, Alabama; Joyce Lamb Bevelle (Caregiver), of Birmingham, Alabama; Jocelyn Mobley (Sam), of Alabaster, Alabama. Sister, Frances Pryor, of Birmingham, Alabama. Sister-in-law, Emma Rivers, of Washington D.C.. 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of loving nieces and nephews, as well as loving and devoted family and friends. We give special honor to those who preceded her in death: two sisters, Pauline Bates and Eunice Cade; and one brother, Lawrence Rivers Jr and one grandson, Christopher Lamb. Public viewing will be held at Smith & Gaston Funeral Home on Friday, June 18th from 12 P.M. to 7 P.M. Graveside service will be held at George Washington Carver Memorial Gardens on Saturday, June 19th at 12:30 P.M.
