Gilbert Wooten, Jr., known to family as "Main" was born on February 1, 1956, to the late Mr. Gilbert Wooten, Sr.  and Mrs. Brooksie Mae Wooten, in Birmingham, Alabama.

Gilbert confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Gaines Chapel AME Church. In later years, after relocating to Maryland, he joined New Psalmist Baptist Church, in Baltimore, Maryland, December 1998. He participated in the Thursday Night Men's Bible Study, Saturday Men's Breakfast with his Pastor and spiritual conferences.  He was a man of Faith, who loved God, family and friends.

Gilbert was known as a kind and gentle soul. He grew up in a home filled with his parents love and three siblings.  He attended G.W. Carver High School. He joined the Army and served his country. He advanced his education at RIT and West Florida University. He enjoyed a 35 year career in the engineering field. He worked at SECORP 22 years, offshore in Texas and The United Arab Emirates. Gilbert enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved his mama. He took pleasure in preparing home cooked meals and baking red velvet cakes. He enjoyed decorating Christmas trees and displaying them throughout our home, during the holiday season. Gilbert loved laughter, listening to jazz music, and traveling throughout the world.

Gilbert and Marguerite were united in Holy matrimony on July 25, 1992. To their union, one child was born, Gabriel Marcus Wooten. Gabriel was his dad's pride and joy. They shared time playing chess, monopoly, and video games, all while Gilbert was teaching Gabriel life lessons.
