George D. Smith was born June 16, 1951 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was the oldest son of the late Mr. & Mrs. George W. Smith. He accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. He joined First Baptist Church Parks Hill. His early years of education was at Westfield High School. He graduated from Lawson State Technical College where he received his barbering certification. Later he became a master barber. George had a love for music and played the guitar in different bands and in churches.
He departed his life Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 8:41 P.M.
George was preceded in death by his father, George W. Smith and his mother, Ophelia Smith.
His memories of love will always be remembered by his one and only loving and caring daughter, Monica (Janci) Finkley. He leaves to cherish his memories, five loving and devoted siblings, Scottie (Walter) Glass, of Atlanta, GA, Eartha (Charles) Gary, of Hayneville, AL, Issac (Teresa) Smith of Birmingham, AL, Patricia Williams of Birmingham, AL and Georgia Smith of Atlanta, GA. Four grandchildren, Jalin, Janci Jr., Jancia and Jhenesis. Fives aunts, Sarah Cope, Hattie B. Pruitt, Hannah Foreman, Culexie Gordon, Mary Ann Moore, two uncles, Billie Smith and Matthew Moore, Jr. A host of neices, nephews, other relatives and friends.
