Genea was a graduate of Holy Family High School, Birmingham, AL. After graduation Genea attended Tuskegee University for two years. She then transferred to the University of Alabama Birmingham and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences, with a minor in Psychology.

During her professional career, Genea served in numerous capacities while working in Food Service and Retail including both sales and management. She was known for her personable and outgoing personality.

Genea was preceded in death by her parents, Jennifer Pharris Pritchett and Donald David Pritchett Sr.

She is survived by her children Kayle Amaya Pritchett and Caleb Witt, brothers Donald (Nadia) Pritchett Jr. and Abdullah (Marsha) Birdsong, a devoted stepmother, Anne Goodwill Pritchett, an uncle, Gregory (Demerryce) Pritchett, and an earthly guardian angel, Jimmie Burrell. Genea cherished her family members and the many friends she made over the years.
