Fannie
Moore
February 27, 1924 – October 5, 2023
The Obituary -
Sister Fannie Lee Moore was born on February 27, 1924, to the
late Sye and Sisfronia Rederick Moore, in Forkland (Greene County),
Alabama. She was the second eldest of eleven children.
At an early age, she confessed Christ at Evening Star Baptist
Church in Forkland, Alabama.
She attended school at Berdine School in Greene County,
Alabama.
After leaving Forkland, she moved to Canton, Ohio, but didn't like
it there. Then she moved to Birmingham, Alabama with her sisters,
Beatrice and Elizabeth. When she moved to Birmingham, she joined
the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. Later, she joined the Mount
Hebron Baptist Church. During her many years of dedicated service,
she served under the leadership of the late Reverend C. Murdock, the
late Reverend J. W. Croom, Sr. and the late Reverend O. L. Burton,
before serving under the current leader, Pastor Michael Washington.
Down through the years, at Mount Hebron, she served in many
capacities. For many years, she was Treasurer and a member of the
Number One Usher Board; member of The Amelia Browder Bible
Sunday School Class; member of the Missionary Society and was on
the Deaconess Board. Sister Moore was a faithful member of Mount
Hebron Baptist Church for more than 70 years.
One of her passions was nurturing, she loved children and
worked in Homewood, Alabama for several families, babysitting and
cleaning their homes. Her second passion was cooking and later she
worked with her sister Beatrice at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church
in Homewood, Alabama as a cook on Wednesday nights. Whenever
an opportunity presented itself, she would always go back to her first
love, taking care of the babies. For many years she worked at the
Church Nursery and took care of the little ones for family members,
extended family and friends. In addition, she was a talented cook
that loved cooking and specialized in baking cakes, cinnamon rolls,
sweet potato pies and dinner rolls.
During her lifetime, she and Beatrice were members of a Social
and Savings Club, where she was also the treasurer. She was also
good at saving money and always saved the most money of all the
women at the end of the year which made them jealous.
In 1961, she married the late Alfred Moore, Sr. To this union two
children were born, Catherine (Frank) Banks and Alfred, Jr. (Mona)
Moore.
She leaves to cherish her grandchildren, Alfred Moore, III,
Debra Moore, Andrew (Crystal) Banks and Joshua Samuels; great
