Mrs. Evelyn Burrell Thornton, was born February 8, 1932. She departed on November 14, 2014. She confessed Christ at an early age. She was a lifelong member of New Pilgrim Baptist Church. She was a participant in Julie Moos's Hat Ladies expose' in 2002, at The Birmingham Museum of Art. Mrs. Evelyn Burrell Thornton was joined in holy matrimony to the late William B. Thornton on May 7, 1949. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at New Pilgrim Baptist Church with burial in Highland Memorial Gardens. She leaves to cherish and honor her memory: daughters, Kathleen (Thomas) Cole and Janice (Leroy) Smith of Birmingham, AL; her lovely grandchildren, Katrina (Turner) Edwards, Janiessa (Waymon, Jr.) Waller, Kristen Cole of Birmingham, AL and Brian Smith of Washington, DC; great grandchildren, Tiana, Tre'Meil and Triniti Edwards, Kassidy Cole, Cebastian and Cynclaire Waller; She also had five sisters; one brother, one sister-in-law; a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
Mrs. Evelyn Burrell Thornton's presence will be deeply missed by those that had the pleasure of making her acquaintance.
