a resident of Hoover and a member of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church, transitioned peacefully on September 24, 2015, two days before his 85th birthday. He proudly served his country for six years in the U. S. Army. He attended Parker High School, Miles College and B.T.W. Business College and worked 35 years for the U. S. Postal Service. Survivors include: his wife of 59 years, Danella Avery Johnson; three children, Marcia Johnson Rice (Leonard), Kendra Johnson and Barry Johnson; brother, Charles Johnson; sister, Lois Faulkner; many other beloved relatives and friends. A memorial service will held Monday, September 28, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church. He will be buried with military honors at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama at 12:30 P.M.
