Ethel Farley Howard was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 4, 1950 to the late Mozella Farley (Mitchell) and James Bethune. She confessed Christ at an early age and united with Groveland Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama under the pastorate of the late Reverend O. W. Holliday. Ethel graduated from Carol W. Hayes High School, and built a successful career in computer programming and Information Technology. She retired from her position as a Data Network analyst at Cooper Green Hospital in 2009. Ethel passed away on February 14, 2016, and is survived by her daughters: Falandra Renee Howard-Freeman, Pamela Denise Howard, Francheska Nicole Howard-Manzano , and Hafeeza R. Anchum; three grandchildren, DeAdrienne Freeman, DeAngelo Freeman, and Sabella Manzano; one brother James Howard Farley (Natasha); four sisters: Seretta Woods, Maxine Allen (Richard), Corleen Denise Farley, and Ellery Jean Wilson (Charles). Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 20th at 12pm at Groveland Baptist Church with burial at Zion Memorial Gardens. A family hour will be held, Friday, February 19th in the chapel of Smith and Gaston Funeral Home, Southside.
