Ellis Arnell
Mosely
January 15, 1962 – October 10, 2024
Obituary
Ellis Arnell Mosely was born on January 15, 1962, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Roosevelt Mosely, Jr. and Minnie Mickel Mosely Hildreth. The second of three sons, he grew up in a loving, Christian home, attending Oak Street Baptist Church. Ellis was a proud graduate of Birmingham Ramsey High School, where he excelled academically.
After completing his first year of study at the University of Alabama, where he was a member of the Afro-American Gospel Choir, Ellis transferred to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he earned a bachelors degree in journalism. During his time at UAB, he was
initiated into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., later becoming a Life Member, and his love for music led him to become a lead singer in the campus gospel choir, The Echoes of Faith. Ellis also showcased his vocal talents by performing in numerous musical productions throughout his
college years and continued to pursue these performances during the early stages of his professional life.
Upon graduation, Ellis began a distinguished career with the federal government as a Logistician. Over the years, he rose through the ranks to become a Senior Logistics Manager. His career took him from New Jersey to Virginia, where he affiliated with First Mount Zion Baptist Church, becoming an active and dedicated member of the Unity Choir and Male Chorus. His involvement in the church inspired him to pursue further studies at the Virginia Theological Seminary.
After thirty-six years of service, Ellis retired in December 2022, embracing the joys of retirement. He fulfilled his passion for travel, exploring the world and its many wonders. His love of music continued throughout his life, culminating in the formation of his own production company, Ellis Bass-Baritone Balladeer (EB3), LLC.
Ellis was preceded in death by his father, Roosevelt Mosely, Jr., and his younger brother, Roosevelt Mosely, III.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving mother, Minnie Hildreth, stepfather Gerald Hildreth, brother Darryl Mosely, sister Aliciah Young, brother-in-law Fredrico Young, niece Azalea, God-Sons Kenny Butler and Zack Brooks, God-daughter Allyson Maye, as well as a host of extended family, friends, his Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity family and all whose lives he touched. Ellis will be remembered for his passion for life, his love of music, and his unwavering dedication to family, faith, and friends.
