Edward Earl Mickens was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on
September 25, 1948. He was the son of the late Fred L. and Ocie B. Mickens.
He was educated in the public school system of Tuscaloosa County Alabama
and graduated from Boteler High School. He then attended Tuskegee
University majoring in Physics. He joined the United States Marine Corps in
1969. His professional career started at Hayes Aircraft in Birmingham and
continued on at Norfolk Southern Railway, completing 32 years of service
with them.

Edward was a faithful member of the Woodland Park Church of Christ for
many years.

He met and married the former Wanda Lee Hall. On July 24, 2023, they
celebrated their 52 nd anniversary. Their lives were blessed with three sons,
Roderick of Roanoke, Virginia; Brian of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and Ronald
(Chivone) Mickens of Huntsville, Alabama; two granddaughters, Khaila and
Vivienne Mickens; four grandsons, Kevin, Michael, Haston, and Elan
Mickens; one brother-in-law, Morris Hall; two sisters-in-law, Doris Hall and
Winnie White; and a host of other relatives and friends.
