Eddie Casmer Townsend was born December 18, 1946 to the late Aimee T. Crawford in Birmingham, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his mother; two brothers, Reginald Williams and Darryl V. Crawford; two uncles, Amos Townsend and Rufus Townsend Jr.

Eddie attended Westminster Presbyterian Church. He attended Carrie A. Tuggle Elementary School and he graduated from Parker High School. Eddie received a Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare and Planning from Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee. He was employed at University Hospital (UAB) in Birmingham, Alabama.

Eddie departed this earthly life on June 3, 2016 at UAB Palliative Care. He leaves his memories to be cherished by his wife Christeen; three daughters: Casmere Rose Townsend, Kristi (Terry) Smith and Nichelle (Melvin) Vance, two sons, James Kline and Tierre (Bridget) Kline; along with seven grandchildren who he loved dearly: Cristian, Mikhail, Brenden, Arianna, Krysta, Kacey, Melvin (III); a host of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith & Gaston Southside Chapel with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
