Obituary

DOROTHY JEAN KIRKSEY
née Woodard


was born on June 11, 1938 in Birmingham. She attended Birmingham public schools, eventually graduating from Ullman High School in 1956.
She was a long-time employee of The Birmingham Stove and Range Co. She also worked as a domestic and sitter/companion for families.
Dorothy was a life-long and much beloved member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, a community which she, too, loved with all her heart. She was active in the Church Choir and lent her talents as a Sunday School Teacher. In addition, she served as a member of the LWML, with energy and dedication organized the annual Love Sunday, and gave the Temple Talk on special occasions. She was recently honored for her many years of excellent and selfless service to St. Paul.


Dorothy Jean's survivors include: sons, John (Goose) and Otis Raynard Kirksey; sisters, Mamie Tate and Angilen Woodard; brother, Marshall Woodard; as well as a host of grand and great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
