Beatty
August 25, 1935 – July 15, 2023
Mrs. Dianne L. Beatty was born on August 25, 1935, to the late Mr. William and Mrs. Annie Mae
Horne, in Birmingham, Alabama. She attended Tarrant Junior High School, Hooper City High
School, and Booker T. Washington Business College and continued her studies in Seattle. It
was in Seattle that she met and married her best friend Elree Beatty. She worked for numerous
years at the University of Washington Hospital until she retired. She was admired and respected
by her staff and was dedicated to her profession. She was also known for her keen sense of
humor and quick wit. She will be missed by many friends and co-workers in Seattle.
She was a member of First A.M.E. Church in Seattle, WAuntil returning to Birmingham in 2009.
She was a avid sports fan and loved to host game night gatherings for family and friends. Her
favorite sport was golf and she played in many tournaments and received several awards while
playing with her golf club in Seattle. Few golfers are skilled or lucky enough to hit a "hole in
one", however Dianne had three. She was recognized in the local Seattle newspaper for her
efforts. Additionally, she was selected to be a Marshall for Tiger Woods at a tournament in
Seattle.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter Pamela Horne, her granddaughter Sharun
DeLoach, her grandson Darian Horne (Maia), three great-granddaughters Kayla Horne, Jamia
Horne and Courtney DeLoach and one great- grandson Darian Horne, Jr.; six sisters Mrs. Mary
Jones ,Mrs. Doris Jolly, Ms. Evelyn Horne, Mrs. Artyce Wynn, Ms. Gloria Horne of Birmingham,
AL and Lucille Hawkins (Herbert) of Grand Blanc, MI; a sister-in-law Mrs. Julia Horne of
Birmingham, AL, and a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
In addition to her parents, Dianne was preceeded in death by her husband Elree Beatty, sisters
Mrs. Eurydice Wooten and Mrs. Irma Simpson and her brother Mr. Bobby Horne.
