Obituary

Diane Stevenson was born October 5, 1950, one of ten
children to Robert L. Stevenson, Sr., and Ida Mae Stevenson
in Birmingham, AL.


Diane was educated in the Birmingham Public School
System. After she graduated from Ensley High School, she
went on to study Business Office Administration at Lawson
State Community College. She continued her studies at Laney
College in Oakland, CA.


Diane met and married Samuel Jones. She launched her
business, Walking in the Light, selling T-shirts, hats, and
items displaying inspirational messages.


Diane accepted Christ and was an active member of Living
Word Baptist Church where she was involved in outreach.
Her mission was to win as many souls for Christ as she could.
Diane was also involved in street outreach for BAO and was a
Peer Support Specialist for COSA, the Council on Substance
Abuse.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Jones;
mother and father, Robert L. Stevenson, Sr., and Ida M.
Stevenson; and brother, Robert L. Stevenson, Jr.


Diane leaves to cherish her memory: her loving brother and
pastor, Stanley V. (Landis) Stevenson, Sr., and other brothers,
Mark (Garcia) Stevenson, Sr., Victor E. (Lee) Stevenson,
and Barry (Sylvia) Stevenson; sisters, Vicki R. Browning,
Joan Dorsey, Teresa Rayford, and Myra Stevenson Bradley
(Ponder); nieces and nephews, all of whom she shared unique
relationships with; nephew, Eric, whom she referred to as her
"son"; and a host of other relatives and friends.
