Della Stokes was born to Bessie and Homer Wiggins Sr. She died peacefully on December 26, 2024 at Grandview Hospital. She was baptized at South Elyton Baptist Church. She later joined Sixth Avenue Baptist Church. Della was educated in Birmingham City Schools: Washington Elementary where she was a Majorette. She graduated from Ullman High School in 1964-Eventually attending Daniel Payne College. She began her teaching career with Jefferson County School system, and later taught at Hoover School System, retiring after twenty-five years of service.

On November 21, 1966, Della was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Tirra Cheree Taylor.


She was united in Holy Matrimony to Bunny Stokes on August 14, 1981.


Della enjoyed traveling, and she was a "professional" home interior decorator. She was an excellent cook and she LOVED to shop! She enjoyed
life to the fullest...and she loved everybody.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Bunny Stokes; her daughter, Tirra Taylor; and her brother, Homer Wiggins Jr., who recently preceded her in death-three days before her passing.


She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted granddaughter, Whitney Lawson; her sister, Portia Sutton; Aunt Pairie Lee Wiggins; stepson, Trenton Stokes (Christine); brother, Levonia Wiggins Sr. (Bessie); niece Tamika Wiggins; nephews, Levonia Wiggins Jr. (Portia), Clifford Sutton (Lynetta), and Brian Sutton (LaShunda). In addition, she leaves a host of other relatives, and friends.
