Obituary

Mr. Gaston Walker, affectionately known among family and friends as "Walker", "Knot", "Crusher", and "Walk Walk", was born in Marengo County, Alabama to Ms. LBertha Walker on May 12, 1954. He was raised by his great grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Miles in Selma, Alabama. He graduated from Selma High School in 1972. He accepted Christ in his life at an early age. He later joined Saint Joseph Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Abraham Woods. He became a deacon at Saint Joseph in 2013, faithfully serving the church and members. He truly loved his church family. He enjoyed and loved the Old Testament of the Bible. He faithfully served on the Usher Board and taught Sunday School for many years. He enjoyed working with the kitchen ministry, youth of the church, Vacation Bible School, and was always available to serve any ministry that needed assistance. He worked very hard in the kingdom of God while it was day.

Gaston lived in New York for many years before returning to Selma, Alabama and graduating from the Alabama Department of Corrections Officers Academy. Upon graduating from the Academy, he was employed at William E. Donaldson Correctional Facility for many years as a correctional officer. He later worked as a security officer for several agencies. In 2016, he retired from Golden Flake, Inc. He met his loyal and devoted wife, Nelva, in 1987 and they married on June 23, 1990.

Walker has always had a passion for working on cars, fishing, planning trips, traveling and inviting friends and family to join he and his wife on the trips. He planned the agenda for trips to the very last detail.

Gaston passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the age of 70, surrounded by his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Walker, great-grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Wilson Miles, and grandmother, Mrs. Carrie Johnson.
