Deacon Bobby
Hamby
July 29, 1961 – September 6, 2024
Deacon Bobby Hamby transitioned peacefully to his eternal home on September 6, 2024.
A lil bit about Bobby you may not know: Bobby moved to Alabama from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the early 70's to live with his maternal grandmother after the passing of his mother. Shortly thereafter, he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and became a member of the First Baptist Church of Village Springs where he was later ordained as a deacon under the late Rev. James A. Frazier. Bobby actively participated in the church and willingly did whatever was asked of him.
Bobby is a graduate of Pinson Valley High School. He recently retired from the Jefferson County School System after 30 years of service.
Bobby is preceded in death by his mother Maggie Mae Stargile Hamby, brother PFC Wilbur F. Hamby (U.S. Army) and his maternal grandmother, Mary Lee Stargile (momma), who took on the responsibility of raising him from 11 years of age. Bobby leaves to mourn his passing his aunt, MaryAnn Stargile. MaryAnn helped Bobby to navigate life in his latter years and eventually became his primary caregiver. He was also blessed to share life with an uncle, Deacon Matthew (Buddy) Hamby, a host of cousins and many, many friends.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
