David Joseph was born in Bibb County on June 10, 1926. He departed this life on September 4, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phil and Cora Joseph, two sisters, eight brothers, and his daughter, Debra Joseph Hubbard. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and was an active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, serving, until he was physically unable, as a member of the Usher Board. A gentle man of modest means and of humble roots, he leaves a legacy of love, peace and quiet wisdom. He will be missed by all. He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Carlyne S. Joseph; sons, Anthony A. Joseph, Korda Joseph-Muhammad, Romeo Penn; daughter, Jalete J. Nelms; stepdaughters, El Wanda Penn and Rhonda Penn; a special group of in-laws including his daughters-in-law, Cassandra Joseph, Dawnielle Penn and Jessica Muhammad; sons-in-law, Samuel Nelms and the Rev. Colenzo Hubbard (Laverne); sister-in-law, Corine S. Dancy (Edward); 16 grandchildren: Kevin, Justin; Aaron, Charon, Caryn, Christopher, Khalil, Solomon, Aliyah, Safiyah, Samantha, Zoe, Debra, Diane, Rachel and Abby; one great-granddaughter, Makayla; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 8, 2014 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 228 Dennison Avenue S.W., Birmingham, Alabama. The family will receive visitors from 11:30 to 12:30, followed by funeral services. Interment will take place following the services at George Washington Carver Memorial Gardens.
