Cynthia A.
Hicks
July 8, 1952 – January 19, 2021
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." Psalm 116:15 (KJV)
Ms. Cynthia Ann Hicks was born on July 8, 1952 in Birmingham, AL to the proud parents of C.J. Hicks and Ella Mae Miller Hicks.
Cynthia (better known as "Lulu" by her family) was one that was bubbly, full of energy, socially entertaining and always smiling. She maintained that behavior throughout her entire life. It was just her!
Cynthia attended Bryant Elementary School and later Carol W. Hayes High School, where she became the school's queen her first year there. She also sang in both choirs throughout her school years. She went on to obtain her associates degree at the Booker T. Washington Business College. She worked as a legal secretary for over 30 years.
Cynthia was small in stature, but she did not let that deter her from accomplishing her goals in life. Truly she was a "Delight" to be with. She found favor everywhere she went. She was loving and kind - always reaching out to help in any way she could.
Cynthia was saved and attended the Church of God. She loved to "Sing Unto the Lord". Singing was her God-given talent which blessed the ears of the hearers. She also had a sense of humor and would beat you laughing.
As years progressed, afflictions seized her body, but she still did not allow them to cease her 'songs unto the Lord". Whatever engagements, wherever she went (even in the hospital emergency room), singing accompanied her.
That's who she was!
Cynthia was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dorsey & Cora Hicks, Dolphus & Mattie Miller; her father and mother, C.J. and Ella Mae Hicks; and a sister, Angela Denise Hicks.
She leaves behind her two sisters, Corliss Hicks Wilson (Gregory) and Stephanie Hicks Layton (Christopher); an aunt, Elizabeth Miller Suggs; three nephews, Gregory A. Wilson (LaQueta), Johnathan Wilson (Taaka) and Micah Layton; two nieces, Rachel Wilson and Gaylen Layton; and a host of grandnieces/nephews, cousins and other extended family and friends.
