Christopher Maurice Martin 42, of Birmingham, Alabama transitioned from this earthly world to be with his Heavenly Father on January 4, 2018. Christopher lived with his mother and peacefully went to sleep in the early morning hours.
Christopher was baptized and a life member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church where as a youth and young adult sang in the choir, was a boy scout, served on the usher board and at the age of six because he was so articulate, gave his first Sermon on youth day to the congregation. Christopher graduated from Berry High School and later obtained and Associate degree in Computer Technology from Strayer University in Birmingham.
Christopher moved to Knoxville Tennessee for a new job opportunity where he resided for three years and was cared, cherished, and fed by his Aunt Gussie who affectionately called him her 'adopted son'. Christopher's cousin, Raynauld - who had been like a blood brother since childhood and into their adult life - assisted in obtaining him a job and also showed him the night life of Knoxville.
Due to diabetic health issues, Christopher moved back to Birmingham a year ago and resided with his mother until his passing. Although Christopher was a private person, he was compassionate, loving, and kind towards all and would assist anyone at any time during his life and later as his health permitted.
He is survived by his mother, Deborah Roberson and father Lonnie Martin, III (Louada), His sister Staci Mitchell, and extended family including Arthur Washington and James Williams who were considered his brothers. An avid 'Alabama fan', Christopher had a wealth of friendships (which were more like kinships) and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins, each having a special story that would involve Christopher.
Christopher was very appreciative of the quality time spent with his father after he moved back to Birmingham. Christopher was affectionately called 'Chris' by so many, but to but mother he will always be Christopher.
A Celebration of Life for Mr. Martin will be on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at Smith & Gaston Chapel.
