Charlotte Harris Stovall, wife, mother, educator and woman of God. Born on September 20, 1931 in Birmingham, Alabama. She departed this life on December 14, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Hattie Harris, husband, William Irvin Stovall and daughter, Dr. Irisse D. Stovall-Wright (Anthony). Charlotte lived a charmed vibrant life. She was a graduate of A. H. Parker High School, Miles College and the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she received her Master's in Education. Professionally, she excelled as an Educator; empowering, developing and guiding a countless number of students before retiring from the Birmingham City Public School System.
As a young adult Charlotte served as a stewardess at Southside Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. She subsequently joined her husband and was a deaconess at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church. She was a charter member of Club Les Precieuses for more than 60 years. Additionally, she was a Northside matron, and a Phi Beta Sigma Shadow.
Charlotte had an unwavering and unyielding love for her family. She leaves to cherish her memory two devoted sons, William and Geoffrey Stovall; loving daughters Charlene Stovall, Anjanette (John) Spencer, and Tselanie (Raymond) Mitchell; grandchildren Keenen, Jordan, Geoffrey and Austin. Brother in law Henry Jackson (Constance) nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Charlotte was kind, patient, comforting and compassionate -- a virtuous woman. She is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She will truly be missed.
Family Hour will be held Thursday, December 17, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Smith & Gaston Southside Chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 18, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Smith & Gaston Southside directing.
