Life Reflections
In Loving Memory of
Charles Lake
April 3, 1944 – July 31, 2026
Charles Lake was born on April 3, 1944, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Andrew and Leola Lake. On Friday, July 31, 2026, he peacefully entered eternal rest in his beloved hometown of Birmingham at the age of 82.
Charles received his early education at Lane Elementary School and later attended Immaculata Catholic High School. Birmingham was more than his birthplace—it was the community he loved and faithfully called home throughout his life. He was known for his quiet strength, devotion to family, and steadfast presence among those who knew and loved him.
Charles was united in marriage to the love of his life, Nettie Lake, and together they shared a life built on love, commitment, and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Loyola Lake; his siblings, Mrs. Willie Lee Wright, Margaret Billups, Queen E. Lake, Lawyer Lake, Joe Lake, and Rachel Lake; and his daughter, Margaret Webb.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted wife, Nettie Lake; his brothers, Maudiki Lake (Shirley) and Andrew Lake (Mary); his sister, Angela Lake; his children, Charles A. Lake II (Andrea), Tangi Lake-Bennings-Hill (Waymond), James W. Webb Jr. (Lanye’), and Betty Webb. He also leaves a host of cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many dear friends whose lives were touched by his love and kindness.
Charles’s life was a testament to faith, family, and perseverance. His gentle spirit, warm heart, and enduring love will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will continue to live on through the family he loved and the many memories they will forever cherish.
“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1
Charles will be remembered with love, honored with gratitude, and missed beyond measure. May God grant comfort and peace to all who mourn his passing
