Charles Cecil Guyton, Jr., was born October 20, 1954, in Birmingham, Alabama, at Holy Family Hospital, to his late parents, Charles Cecil Guyton, Sr., and Rosebud Saffold Guyton.
Cecil was baptized at an early age at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church under the tutelage of Rev. John Thomas Porter. He continued to be a lifelong member of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church until his death. Cecil received his early education in the Birmingham City School District. He attended Center Street Elementary School until the 7th grade, wherein, he was transferred to the gifted program at Elyton Elementary School where he graduated 8th grade. From there Cecil attended Hayes High School where he was one of the star basketball players on the school team. He was extremely proud of this, thinking one day he would go on to play in the NBA. He would go on to graduate from West End High School in the class of 1973. While in high school, Cecil became a proud member of Phi Alpha Fraternity, which was founded and sponsored by his late uncle, Bernard H. Williams. Cecil continued his education at Alabama State University, Montgomery, Alabama.
While attending Alabama State University, Cecil met and was later joined in marriage to Vanessa D. Bennett. To this union was born a daughter, Nicole Michelle Guyton. Cecil began his career in the service industry where he flourished and became a skilled and sought after mixologist and caterer. With an innovative business sense, he founded a limousine business, in Chicago, IL, TRANS-FORMATION CHICAGO, INC., where he serviced business executives, elected officials, and individuals in the entertainment and sports industry. Many of his clients became like family
due to his trustworthy, caring nature, and charismatic personality.
Cecil was also heavily involved in the music and entertainment industry as an international tour manager. He serviced artist big and small, helping to develop their music careers and educate them in the business. He had a true passion for service which is what propelled him to be one of the most successful businessmen in each of these endeavors.
As life often takes us down many paths, Cecil was a huge advocate for those suffering from addiction due to his early struggles. He was extremely passionate about his sobriety and actively sought to help others. He was excited to have celebrated his thirtieth anniversary of sobriety in December, 2023. He leaves to mourn, two daughters, Nicole Guyton McClendon (Demetris), Oxford, AL; Taliyah Knight, Stone Mountain, GA; five grandchildren, Demetris Ja'Kolbe McClendon, Oxford, AL; Demontre Ja'Khai McClendon, Oxford, AL; Avery Rose McClendon, Oxford, AL; Tristan Knight and Trinity Knight, Stone Mountain, GA. This was his legacy and a beautiful testament of his love and his family decree. He leaves to cherish his memory, his siblings: Sharon Guyton Jones, Mableton, GA; Jeanean F. Guyton, Dallas, TX; Charlene Smith (Anthony), Stockbridge, GA; Dwayne Mims, Dolton, IL; Marie Guyton, Country Club, Hills, IL; Christine McBride (Donald), South Holland, IL; Karon Deller, Park Forest, IL; Cheryl Guyton, Country Club Hills, IL; Jocelyn Guyton, Richton Park, IL; Gina Langston (Tony), Indianapolis, IN; Ivan Foster, Philadelphia, PA; Latonja Spencer, Glenwood, IL; Stephanie Kizer, Country Club, Hills, IL; Robert Mathis (Annette), Jacksonville, FL; and Anthony Mathis, Jacksonville, FL. Also, to cherish his memory, one uncle, Edwin Guyton, Sr. (Sherre), Calumet Park, IL.
Preceding him in death, a brother, Jonathan Guyton; brothers-in-law, Norris Jones, Charles Davis, Larry Kizer; and one grandson, Terrious Lavontae Williams. A host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will also cherish his memory, forever.
