Mrs. Ceola Hamlin Montgomery, died on Tuesday, August 12, 2014. Graveside service will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Elmwood Cemetery. Mrs. Montgomery was a graduate of Alabama State University. She was an educator in the Birmingham City School System for over thirty years. Mrs. Montgomery was a member of numerous organizations including The Birmingham Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. She was a devoted member of Thirgood Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church where she served over twenty years as recording steward and teen Sunday School teacher. She also volunteered countless hours at The Children's Hospital. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Roxie Swift Hamlin; husband, Clyde, Sr.; sons, Attorney Clyde Montgomery and Attorney Genoa Montgomery; two sisters; one brother. She is survived by one son, Cordell of Birmingham, AL; one grandson, Genigh of Los Angeles, CA. Smith & Gaston Southside directing.
