Mrs. Catherine Bracy Green was born on the Prairie of Lowndes County, Alabama. She was the second child born to Julia Bracy Walker. She also enjoyed the love of a second set of parents, her beloved "Big Mama", Tenner Davis and Elder Robert B. Davis, always "daddy" in her heart. Catherine's love of education was born in the hallways of Caffey Elementary and Spann High School. She received her Bachelor's Degree at Miles College. She continued her education with further studies at the University of Georgia and the University of Louisville.
The impartation of knowledge was a quest that she joyfully embarked on for many years. She had the distinction of being one of the first African-American teachers to integrate the Jefferson County School System. Through the rampant injustices and prejudices of that era, she stood steadfast in her commitment. Mrs. Green was a long-time professor of mathematics at Lawson State Community College. Her course was both loved and feared! Her grasp of mathematics was unquestionable. She know it as if it was engraved in her mind.
