Life began for Carol Kay Edwards June 8, 1949 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was the youngest daughter of the late Albert and Lula Jackson. She was preceded in death by her only sister and best friend Barbara Kidd.

She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at University Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, on January 16, 2023 after an 8-month struggle with Stage IV Esophageal Cancer. She loved the Lord and confessed Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late Reverend Calvin C. Jackson at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church. She was a current and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Zion City.

Carol was educated in the Birmingham City School System. She graduated from G.W. Carver High School Class of 1967. She furthered her education at Lawson State College, where she received her Nurshing Degree. She was an employee of St. Vincent's Hospital for over thirty years and retired in May 2006. Upon retirement, she volunteered her time and services at Greater Birmingham Ministries.

She was peacefully called to rest in the afternoon of January 16, 2023. She leaves to cherish her memories; her loving husband of over 50 years, Thomas Edwards; her devoted children Torran (Candice) Edwards, Keidra Edwards, and Kerry Edwards; grandchildren Zachary Johnson, Lauryn Edwards, and Ashlyn Edwards; aunts, Elizabeth Smith and Juliette Dowdell; sisters-in-law, Ruth Whitehead, Mary Hines Danehower; Brother-in-law, Samuel Edwards (Gloria); and a host of relatives and friends.
