Brown Peterson, age 97, passed on December 8, 2015. Edward "Brown" Peterson was born on March 18, 1918 to the late Christianna Bracy Peterson and Wash Peterson, Sr. in Hayneville, Lowndes County, Alabama. He was one of 13 children. As a long-time resident of the Ensley community, Brown Peterson was an active member of First Baptist Church, Ensley until his health declined. Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Lucy Peterson; children, Brownie (Frederick) Jones, Dwight (Dorothy) Peterson, Sylinda (Eddie) DeBardleben, and Clinton Peterson; seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one sister, Susie (Willie) Robinson; nieces and nephews; and many friends. Visitation with the family is Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 3-5 p.m. at Smith and Gaston Southside Chapel, 102 6th Avenue SW, Birmingham, AL. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Ensley. Rev. Bruce Seals, officiating, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
