Brenda Joyce Garner (BJ) 64, of Birmingham Alabama went to join her mother, brother and friends in Heaven on July 7, 2017. Brenda was a proud member of the Brown Springs Reunion Committee and loved her alma mater C. W. Hayes High School. Brenda is known for her beautiful, anointed and powerful singing voice. She was a member and director of several groups and choirs over the years. She spent her life enriching the lives of others on her job at Bell South/AT&T, in the community, at church, the mall, restaurants and anywhere in between. She loved people and helping others was one of her many gifts and talents. Brenda leaves to cherish her memory: Her father: Robert L. Garner, Brother: Derrick Garner; Sister: Carmen McDowell; Sisters in law: Darlene Garner & Sharon Garner; Nieces: Tiffany Garner, DiMya Garner & Jazmine Garner; Nephews: Robert Sharrod Garner(Randi), Lenard Williams, Jeremy McDowell & Jarmar McDowell. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday July 14, 2017 at 12 Noon, at Groveland Baptist Church located at 5437 5th Avenue South, Birmingham Alabama 35212 followed by internment at Elmwood Cemetery. Public Viewing will be Thursday from Noon-8pm at Smith & Gaston Funeral home.
