Barbara L. Howard of Birmingham, AL completed her life journey on September 1, 2019. Barbara was an educator over 40 years and worked in the Jefferson County and Vestavia School System. In addition to being a dedicated wife, loving mother and grandmother, Barbara was a Diamond Life, active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Lifetime Member of the Tennessee State University National Alumni Association-Birmingham Alumni Chapter, Southside Matrons and the Cultural Arts Committee at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church, Civitan International and Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society in Education. Barbara joins her husband ,Clifton Howard , in heaven. She is survived by her children Terri(Ross) Gardner, Debbi Howard, Nashville, TN, grandchildren, Lindsay and Lauren Gardner and loving caregiver, Melvin Coats. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 7,2019 at 12:00 Noon at 6th Ave Baptist Church with interment in Elmwood Mausoleum. Family hour will be held Friday, September 6, 2019 from 7:15 until  8:30 P.M. at Smith and Gaston Southside Chapel.
