Attorney Jerome
"Jack" Tucker

Attorney Jerome "Jack" Tucker was born on January 16, 1946, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Mr. and Mrs. George L. and Mamie Ruth Tucker.
He graduated from C. W. Hayes High School in Birmingham, Alabama. He earned an undergraduate degree at the University of Alabama where he was one of a small group of young black men who were football team walk-on players.
Jerome began law school at Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia, and completed his study at Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. He was also a Phi Beta Kappa member. After passing the Alabama Bar Exam, he practiced briefly in Huntsville, Alabama, and later with the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office in Birmingham, Alabama. Early in his career, Jerome associated with the Demetrius Newton – Arthur Shores Law Offices and ultimately established Jerome Tucker Law Office in association with Attorney Janice Groce.
Jerome Tucker was elected to the Alabama State House of Representatives and served as a chairman of the Alabama Democratic Party. He was a delegate to the convention when Barack Obama was nominated for presidential election.
Jerome grew up as a member of First Baptist Church – Kingston in Birmingham, Alabama. He joined Sixth Avenue Baptist Church in 1982 where he served as a deacon.
Memories of Jerome are most cherished by his wife of 41 years, Ruth S. Tucker; son, Christopher Holley; sisters, Bennie Tucker Bugh of Birmingham, AL, and Mattie Jackson (husband, Benny); aunts, Mary Louise Sills of Birmingham, AL, and Ella V. Woods of Albany, GA; in-laws, Carmenlita Strong, Clifford (Cynthia) Strong, and Pettus Strong, all of Birmingham, AL; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
