Obituary

Antonio Jones was born on February 10, 1960, in
Buffalo, New York, to Letha Rice-Jones and the late Emory Jones,
Sr. He departed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
on September 4, 2022. Antonio confessed his life to Christ at an early age at Calvary
Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Buffalo, New York.
He was a graduate of Woodlawn High School in Buffalo, New
York, and later moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where he
became a college football fan of the University of Alabama and
still remained a Buffalo Bills fan. He joined the New Bethlehem
Baptist Church under the former pastor Reverend William H.
Walker, Sr. He was a dedicated member of the church where he
sang in the Male Chorus, served as President of the Brotherhood,
a member of Sunday school, the Bus Ministry, the Ministers' in
Action Ministry, the Deacons' Ministry, the Welcome Committee,
the Evangelistic Ministry, and the Security Team Ministry.
Antonio served as Sergeant in the Armed Forces and was
later honorably discharged. He dedicated his time to the City
of Birmingham, primarily working security at the Boutwell
Auditorium and the Birmingham Museum of Art.
Antonio was preceded in death by his father, Emory Jones, Sr.,
and his sister, Josephine Jones.
As we celebrate his homegoing, he leaves to cherish his memories:
his son, Antonio L. Jones; a loving mother, Letha Rice-Jones of
Birmingham, Alabama; two loyal brothers, Jerome D. Jones,
Sr., of Buffalo, New York, and Emory Jones, Jr., of Birmingham,
Alabama, known as "Babybird" by his big brother; sister, Patricia
Anderson of Birmingham, Alabama; two adoring nieces, Brenda
Grant and Leatha Spikes, both of Buffalo, New York; a friend and
true neighbor, Terry Davis; special friend, Dianne McGee; and a
host of nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers, and friends.
