Annie
Greer
July 23, 1931 – May 1, 2022
Annie Belle Greer transitioned to eternal life on
May 1, 2022. She was surrounded by close family.
Annie Belle was born in Mississippi in the Summer of 1931 to the
late Leon & Luebirda Byrd. She was the "knee baby" and only girl
out of their four children. She confessed her life to Christ and was
baptized at an early age.
Annie Belle's family moved to the Tuscaloosa, Alabama, area when
she was an adolescent. Here, her father worked as a skilled laborer
for a paper mill company and her mother was a homemaker.
Shortly after graduating from Industrial High School, top of her class, Annie Belle met Robert
Greer. The two wed in 1957 and their union produced two sons, Ray L. Greer and Fredrick L.
Greer.
After having their first son, Annie Belle and her husband purchased the first lot located off of
the 100 block of Greensprings, Avenue.
Over the years, Annie Belle and her husband received numerous accolades for their service
and dedication to their beloved neighborhood - including being 3x Birmingham Beautification
Award Winners.
Annie Belle was a successful retail manager at JCPenny's for over 20 years in Fairfield, Alabama.
She was a lover of fashion, actively participating in and facilitating the annual Ebony Fashion
Fair Tour. She was a dedicated servant and faithful member of 6th Avenue Baptist Church. In
her spare time, Belle loved to garden and spend time traveling to visit family and friends.
Annie Belle was preceded in death by her father, mother, brothers, and husband.
Annie Belle leaves her cherished memories to: her sons, Ray (JoAnn) Greer and Fredrick
(Cathy) Greer; grandchildren, Angela Greer, Raymond Greer, Ashley Greer, and Makayla
Dawkins; and a host of loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and
neighbors.
