Miss Amber Lashay Hicks, was born April 2, 1990 to LaWanda and Jeffery Hicks in Birmingham, Alabama. Amber gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of 16th Street Baptist Church. Amber graduated from Jefferson County International Baccalaureate High School in 2008 and furthered her education at Spelman College where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in International Studies with a minor in History and French, in 2012. Amber was a member of Phi Alpha Theta and Phi Beta Delta Honor Societies. Amber found her love for teaching after graduation and became an 8th grade Social Studies teacher at Martin Luther King Middle School in Charlotte, NC.
Miss Amber Lashay Hicks joined our Heavenly Father on August 31, 2015. Amber leaves behind to cherish her memory: her parents, LaWanda and Jeffery Hicks; her brother, Trenton; her nephews, Jayden Keith and Mekiah; her belove fiance'e, Charlie Williams, IV. She was adored by her grandparents, Merion Turner and Altha Turner and Mr. and Mrs. Willie and Minnie Hicks. Amber was loved by a host of aunts and uncles, including, Lashay (Eldric) Fluker, Alethia (William) Durkins, Jacqueline (Alex) Tullis, Donald (Valerie) Hicks, Kenneth (Tracy) Hicks, Shirley King and Felix Hicks.
Family Hour will be held Friday,September 4, 2015 from 6:00 until 7:30 P.M. at 16th Street Baptist Church, 1530 - 6th Avenue North, Birmingham, Alabama 35203. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at 16th Street Baptist Church with burial in Zion Memorial Gardens. Smith & Gaston Southside directing.
