Gholston
August 16, 1938 – February 6, 2026
Alfredia Burroughs Gholston, a woman of grace, faith, and deep-rooted community ties, passed away peacefully on February 06, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion. Born on August 16, 1938, to the late Louie Allen, Sr., and Annie Ruth Burroughs, Alfredia was a lifelong resident of Birmingham, Alabama.
Alfredia's story began in the heart of the Collegeville community, where she was raised alongside her four siblings. Roselyn (Rose), Louie Allen, Jr. (Sonny), Robert Charles (Fatt), William Bernard (Bunny).
From a young age, Alfredia walked a path of faith. She was baptized in her youth at Trinity C.M.E. Church, where she first gave her life to Christ—a commitment that served as her compass throughout her years.
A proud product of the Birmingham school system, Alfredia's intellect and drive were evident early on. Her educational journey took her through:
● Hudson Elementary School
● A.H. Parker High School (The "Thundering Herd")
● Booker T. Washington Business College, where she graduated with honors, and
honed the professional skills that would serve her throughout her career.
Alfredia's professional life was defined by her meticulous nature and her desire to help others. She served the Birmingham community through her work in the school system, acting as a welcoming face and organized hand as the Registrar and Secretary at: Milton Sears Elementary School (Zion City, AL) Northside Elementary School
Beyond her work in education, Alfredia was a pillar of the local business community. She dedicated nearly three decades of her life to the Booker T. Washington Insurance Company, where she eventually retired after 28 years of loyal service.
Alfredia married Willie Gholston and the union produced her beloved son and only child, Kenneth Wayne Gholston
Alfredia will be remembered for her steadfast spirit, her dedication to her family, and the quiet strength she drew from her upbringing in Collegeville. She moved through the world with a sense of elegance, charm and a warmth ...
She leaves to cherish her memory her son Kenneth Wayne, brother, William B. Burroughs, sister-in-laws, Jean Burroughs (William) and Evelyn Burroughs ( Louie Allen Burroughs, Jr. -dcsd), several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
